All things cleansing!

Different skin types need different cleansers, if you're not sure, speak to one of our skincare experts.

Since there are so many types of cleansers on the market, it can often be difficult to find what it is that you’re looking for. First things first, it is important to assess your skins needs and understand your skin type. All skin is different, so it is good to get to know your own skin and determine what concerns you want to focus on.  It comes as no surprise that any regime should start by effectively removing dirt, pollutants and make up from the skin and should be done morning and evening.

Cleansers come in many different types. If you wear makeup, you should consider carrying out a double cleanse to ensure all traces of makeup are fully removed. Oil and balm cleansers are best suited to breakdown the bond in makeup as oil attracts oil and work well as a makeup cleanser.

Milky cleansers are a popular choice as they aren’t stripping of the skins moisture barrier and remove impurities gently. If you have a more dry, dehydrated, or sensitive skin type, you would generally be better suited to this kind of cleanser as it has rehydrating properties which will reduce the tightness of the skin and keep the skin soft and hydrated. We recommend SkinCeuticals Gentle Cleanser. This gentle cleanser soothes and calms the skin and is perfect for daily use.

Gel cleansers that have a slight foaming can often feel more clarifying and suited to skin with large pores and excess oil production. We recommend always checking for nasty ingredients and choosing low foam options to ensure we aren’t dehydrating the skin. SkinCeuticals Simply Clean Gel is a fantastic option for a deeply cleansed feel whilst keeping the skin balanced.

Some cleansers will have exfoliating properties that will help the breakdown of dead skin cells and dull skin. Exfoliation is an important step in any regime. Mandelic acid is a gentle yet affective alpha-hydroxyacid (AHA), ideal for exfoliating oily skin. We recommend  NeoStrata Mandelic Clarifying Cleanser which also contains poly hydroxy acid and salicylic acid.

A leading skincare essential for acne prone skin is  Obagi Cleanziderm Foaming Cleanser. A lightweight formulation, a foaming acne cleanser with salicylic acid at 2% to help deeply cleanse pores and impurities., cooling and refreshing feel. Suitable for normal skin types and oilier skins.

Another fantastic cleansing foam with growth factors to simulate the production of collagen and rich with antioxidants and minerals is Endocare Aquafoam Gentle Cleansing Wash. Key ingredients include maris aqua which is rich in minerals and mimosa to enhance skin health.
