Oily Skin
OILY SKIN
All skin has oil in it, and in fact this is what keeps your skin happy, healthy, and hydrated. Under each pore, there is a sebaceous gland that produces natural oils that are called sebum. This sebum is not a bad thing, however sometimes the sebaceous glands go into overdrive and produce too much of these natural oils, resulting in oily skin.
Having too much oil on the skin can make it feel greasy, shiny and require blotting several times a day, and breakouts are more likely to occur, as the sebum mixes with dirt and dead skin cells to block up the pores in your skin.
The causes of oily skin

Environment
If you live in a hot climate, or even during the summer months, the heat and high humidity can cause the skin to go into overdrive and increase oil production in the sebaceous glands. The sun may temporarily make your skin feel dry; however, it may trigger an injury response in the skin, which increases oiliness as a way of soothing damaged skin caused by the sun.

Our Recommendations
Jan Marini Bioglycolic Oily Skin Cleansing Gel – this cleansing gel, specifically formulated for oily skin provides deep follicular cleansing and removes excess oil, impurities, and dead skin cells from the skin through the use of glycolic acid. With continued use, the skin will appear less oily and more refined.
NeoStrata Oil Control Gel – This is light, oil-free gel that creates a velvety matte finish, while controlling any excess shine. Gluconolactone gentle exfoliates the skin, while mandelic acid controls oil production. It is gentle enough to prevent the sebaceous glands going into overdrive, but tough enough to prevent the pores getting clogged.
Heliocare 360 Gel Oil-Free – The perfect sunscreen, SPF 50 for oily skin! This ultra-light mattifying gel leaves the skin with a dry-touch, matte finish, while still protecting your skin against the sun.
Environ Skin EssentiA Clay Masque – this luxurious, clay mask uses Kaolin clay to absorb excess surface oils and impurities and it can help clear away any congestion that is caused by oily skin. We recommend using this mask 1-2 times a week, to keep excess oils at bay.
